Writing

Clare’s current major writing project is a full-length work of narrative nonfiction about learning to blow glass, why we fall in love with our passions, how we learn and acquire skills, why we need to create and how we develop ourselves as creative beings, and what happens when arts funding is in crisis.

To this end she has undertaken extensive instruction from Ruth Allen Glass in Coburg with Ruth Allen and Nick Doran Adams, and has travelled to Corning, NY, to undertake an intensive workshop at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Her writing on glassblowing has been published in Voiceworks, The Age, Meanjin and The Saturday Paper. In 2022, she was Canberra Glassworks’ inaugural Writer in Residence. More about her non-glassblowing work below.
